April 1 - 5, 2015, AZ, CA

Wednesday, April 1.  Happy 48th Anniversary to Rita and Denny!

Thursday, April 2.
It was off to Oxnard this morning to hang out with Mary and Lance for the weekend.  The trip was fine, lots of breaks, until I got just east of Pasadena and it became the trip from hell.  Easter weekend?  Who knows?  But I thought that going through there in the early afternoon hours might not be so bad.  It was 2.5 hours of stop and go traffic, less that 35 mph, and it is only a stretch of 64 miles.  I made it and it is so good to see these great friends again.  We picked up right where we left off last April, like it had been a short span of time since we saw each other.

Sunday, April 5.  Our whale watching trip on Friday morning was a bust - no whales, although we did see lots of playful Dolphins.  The weather was beautiful and it felt so good to be outside on the water, breathing the fresh salty air again, so it wasn't a total loss.  We had lunch at a nice place in the harbor and enjoyed the constant stream of boats heading out and coming in.

Mary and Lance

This is funny - most of the kids on the boat were sleeping.

I went straight upstairs for a nap when we got back and I can't believe I actually slept for 2 hours.  And then I could hardly keep my eyes open and went to bed by 9:00, thinking I would read for a while. I read 2 chapters, closed my eyes, and slept right through until 7:00 the next morning.  I think the fresh air and Meclizine that I took for motion sickness may have been what made me so sleepy.

Other than a nice, long walk on Saturday, we just hung around the house.  We jut had to watch the Final Four basketball games and we're happy that the Badgers go on to the final game on Monday night.

I hit the road by 8:30 on Sunday morning and got through LA without ever going under the speed limit.  It sure is a long drive ad I. I get just have to consider taking the train next time.
