Tuesday, May 28, 2019, SD

We could hear the wind and rain all night long and it continued through the morning as we were hooking up and getting ready to leave.  Yesterday, we talked about the possibility of staying another day if the fog was as bad this morning as it had been all day yesterday.  It was much clearer this morning and we could actually see the houses and hills off in the distance. So, onward we go to our next stop.

We drove straight east on WY-24 and SD-34 the 255 miles to Pierre, SD, through pouring rain for much of the drive. Codger’s Cove RV Park ($25/night) is on the east side of Lake Oahe, where we will spend the next few nights.  Our site is very nice and large.  Many of the sites here are rented on an annual basis and have permanent decks that are quite nice.  There are lots of new trees that will mature in a few years and make for very nice, shady sites.

We walked over to the marina and checked out the Spring Creek Bar and Restaurant and decided that we should take Frisco home and return for dinner.  As soon as I saw that they had Walleye on the menu, that is what I had to have. Tom chose the special, a hamburger steak served with mushroom gravy and garlic mashed potatoes.  The beer was served in frosty mugs, the salad bar was fresh and tasty and the meals were yummy.  We had a nice chat with Shelly, our server, and learned a lot about the lake and the area.
