Monday, April 1, 2019, AZ, CA

Today starts our summer travels and our destination is Mayflower County Park in Blythe, CA.  Everything went well as far as getting ready to go and the last thing that we had to do was to return the mailbox key and the WiFi modem and to get our $75 deposit on the modem back (they held a check until it was returned). It sure was nice to have free WiFi that was consistent, fast, and dependable over the last 5 months.

We said goodbye to our neighbors, Mike and Rhonda and were on the road by 11:00, made a stop at the Burnt Wells rest area that is about 35 miles west of Buckeye, stopped for gas at the Tom Wells Road exit in Ehrenburg, and made it to our park by about 2:30.

Getting parked was a bit of a challenge, as these sites are so strange.  The site they put us in (C-26) was situated so that our door would open and face the unit next to us with only about 8 feet between us. We changed to Site C-35, but Tom had to disconnect his truck because it stuck way out into the road.  When we got setup, a neighbor came to let us know that there is a pair of Great Horned Owls nesting in a nearby tree with some owlets.  I hope I get to see some activity up there.

We hung out with Geri this evening at her house and at Rebel BBQ for dinner. My choice was the smoked ham sandwich and a side of jalapeño potato salad and I loved every bite. Tom had brisket and potato salad and Geri’s choice was a beautiful club salad - there were no complaints from either of them. And we all shared a great big serving of conversation and laughs.
